More than two hundred Central Indiana groups have serious sustained partnerships in West Kenya. These range from the very large (e.g. the partnership between IUPUI and Moi University in Eldoret) to the very small (individuals in Indianapolis who have decided to support street kids in Kenyan slums). Provocate is assisting Partners for Kenya, a loose coalition of local groups working in Kenya, Kenyan Americans, and others who want to be part of innovative efforts to change Africa. Provocate’s goal is:

• To help make thin links between Indiana and Kenya thicker, to help make potential partnerships actual, and to make everyone smarter and more effective
• To provide a “one-stop shop” for people and groups seeking information about and partnerships in Kenya
• To contribute to a robust framework for partnerships, which includes setting up a website, regular meetings, and a directory of active initiatives
• To research and evaluate the effectiveness of partnerships between Central Indiana and Kenya
• To draw from the experiences of these partnerships to develop new models fr other cities and for Hoosiers who wish to strengthen partnerships in other countries
