September 5 — Child sex trafficking and exploitation benefit concert
Child trafficking is recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of a child (any person under the age of 18) for the purpose of exploitation either within or outside a country. The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates that 1.2 million are children trafficked annually … some of them in Central Indiana. We have to do something.
When: Friday September 5, 7:00-9:00 pm
Where: Common Ground Christian Church 4550 N. Illinois Street Indianapolis, IN 46208
From friend of Provocate Carol Collins:
I’m helping put on a benefit concert for an organization called Love 146 (www.love146.org)
Love 146 works toward the abolition of child sex trafficking and exploitation in several countries.
There will be 3 local bands performing (Connersvine, The Tyler Bender Band, and LifeRoot) … and 7 local groups will set up information booths to talk about trafficking that is taking place in Indianapolis. A few local groups attending are The Jullian Center, Exodus, The Christian Legal Clinic, to name a few.
Why does Provocate think you should attend this event?
This is an excellent example of the important reform commitment coming out of the Evangelical community these days. If you care about the abuse of kids around the world, if you want to do something … attend this event, regardless of your faith. Plus you’ll get to hear some fine Christian acoustic rock music.
If you think this sounds interesting, be sure to check out …
Naw Paw of Exodus discusses refugee issues October 15; a conference September 18 addresses domestic abuse in Latino and other immigrant families.
And for your listening pleasure …
They may not get Radiohead to perform at their benefit … but Thom Yorke has given “All I Need” to the anti-trafficking movement.
