Residents and business owners in six developing Indianapolis neighborhoods have recently banded together to improve the quality of life in their areas. This briefing will summarize their neighborhood development plans created with support from the Great Indy Neighborhoods Initiative (GINI).
The plans have something to interest everyone who cares about our city. The plans name specific responsible neighborhood groups to ensure that priorities are actually advanced and that outside partners can be assured their investment will leverage other positive changes.
This is your opportunity to hear a general overview of each plan and its neighborhood, while also gaining insight into common themes among the plans that are likely to drive neighborhood requests in coming years.
Why does Provocate think you should attend this event?
Provocate has been intrigued by the GINI efforts in the Binford area, in part because it involves creating a sense of neighborhood and community where not much has existed before. It isn’t impossible or even implausible, but it is intriguing. You can read the GINI Quality of Life Plans form the six GINI Demonstration Initiative neighborhoods have completed their quality-of-life planning process. If it works, the visions we have for the city and its neighborhoods can get a lot bigger.

An excellent complement will be the September 8 conference on designing balanced transportation for healthier communities. You should also think of attending the statewide conference on housing and community development August 26 & 27.
