October 29 to November 20 — Celebrate a decade of reading and literature from A to Z at the 10th Annual Ann Katz Festival of Books
Novels? History? Current events? In addition to being the largest literary event of its kind in Central Indiana, the festival includes an art exhibit and a film series. All programs are open to the public (bring your friends!) and most are free.

Evan Handler: It’s Only Temporary: The Good News and the Bad News of Being Alive

Sex and the City star Evan Handler is known and loved by millions for playing Harry Goldenblatt, Charlotte’s husband. What you may not know is that Evan is a 20-year survivor of “incurable” leukemia. It’s Only Temporary is the actor’s second memoir. It examines his triumphs, mistakes and less-than-ideal relationships since his miraculous recovery. The book is both hilarious and heart- wrenching, and is a stirring love story.

Mickey Maurer, host of the JCC’s popular talk show Mickey’s Corner and author of a soon-to-be released book on 19 Hoosier women of note, welcomes one of his book’s outstanding women, two-time Grammy Award winner Sylvia McNair. The talk show will feature an engaging conversation with the soprano, film clips and a brief performance.

Paula Bernstein and Elyse Schein: Identical Strangers: A Memoir of Twins Separated and Reunited
