December 6 — Peace Institute workshop on “The Cost of War.”
Find out if it’s possible to have a non-political, evidence based discussion of the costs of the Iraq War … and of how high a cost we should be willing to continue paying.
When: Saturday September 13, 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Where: Indianapolis Peace House 1421 Central Ave. Indianapolis
From the Indianapolis Peace Institute’s preliminary blurb:
This workshop will take a different perspective on looking at the war in Iraq. Politically neutral, this workshop will address the tangible cost of the war to this point. The first half will deal with the financial repercussions of being at war. How have our resources been used? How have we made this conflict a priority, financially and with resources? The second half of this workshop will address the human cost of this conflict, as we explore the challenges facing soldiers as they return from duty.

Why does Provocate think you should attend this event?
Important set of questions. Maybe participants can agree on the economic cost, although it’s a number that will continue to rise long after the end of the war. The big questions are whether the cost of the war will eventaually be worth the benefits to Iraq, the Mid East, the US, the world.

The DePauw Dialogue with Madelaine Albright, Lee Hamilton, and experts on how the Middle East views the US. Peace studies founder Johan Galtung (October 7) often argues the cost of war is always too high. October 15 will see discussions of the American Empire and Rising Global Powers that will help determine if the price was too high or not.
