June 30 - July 1 — Discussions with faculty members of the Shandong College of Art
Talk with Chinese artists and teachers about aspects of art and culture … then look at the art in the Art Center and around the city with fresh eyes.
When: Monday June 30 & Tuesday July 1
Where: Indianapolis Art Center
These talks by the faculty of the Shandong College of Art should of course help us appreciate the 60+ prints and paintings from Shendong that make up the “Art, Harmony and Nature: From the Land of Confucius” exhibition at IAC. And these talks should be good preparation for the other showings of Chinese art around Indianapolis, including the “Court Arts of the Ming Dynasty” exhibition at IMA in the fall. These talks should also add to our appreciation of the other art around Indianapolis, not only the pieces that say “Made in China.” Scheduled to speak:
- June 30, 3:00 PM “Oil Painting, Portrait, and Sketch,” Prof. Wang Like, deputy president of Shendong College of Art
- June 30, 7:00 PM “Modern Art in China,” Prof. Mao Diazong, Dean of School of Fine Arts, of Shendong College of Art
