March 19-22 — 2nd Annual International Interfaith Symposium on “Faith, Civil Society, and International Relations”
Have you ever wondered … What is the role of faith and civil society as our world becomes more economically, socially and environmentally interdependent? What is at stake and what, if any, common interests can be identified? What is the appropriate relationship between religion, government, and the public sphere? To discover answers to these questions and to learn how to get involved in dynamic international projects, you have to head to the International Interfaith Symposium at IUPUI.

- 2:00 pm III founder Herr Klaus Martin Finzel
- 2:30 pm Professor Giles Hoyt will lead a discussion about German philanthropist Max Kade
- 3:30 pm Professor Robert J. Helfenbein will facilitate a discussion faith and civil society with colleagues from various disciplines
- 4:30 pm Bill Foley will lead a Middle East presentation accompanied by Charlie Winslow on the Lebanese Civil War, Pierre Atlas on Sadat and Begin, and Farzad Fadae on Iran
- 6:00 pm Shaw Towfighi will share images from Iran in celebration of Norouz, Persian New Year

- Lunch & Interfaith Discussion: Indianapolis Interfaith Alliance & Bridging the Gap
- 1:00 pm Dr. Chalmer Thompson & Reverend Mmoja Ajabu will describe liberation theology/psychology, using the of a future film project involving children from Uganda and Zimbabwe
- 2:00 pm Ayumi Suzuki has 12 years of experience representing Citizen Organizations in Japan. She will discuss Japanese philanthropy and opportunities for international cooperation
- 3:00 pm Terri Morris-Downs & Henry Cole will discuss the Immigrant Welcome Center & how to establish a Sister City Partnership
- 4:00pm International Center of Indianapolis will share information about their agency and a variety of programs in Central Indiana that connect us to the world
- 5:00 pm John Clark & Sally Brown will highlight the work of many excellent international programs in Central Indiana including Ambassadors for Children
- 6:00 pm Michael Greven and Members of the House of Abraham Committee will discuss Green Building and Habitat for Humanity’s House of Abraham project
- 7:00 pm Charlie Wiles will present a video/discussion of recent interviews with Iraqi refugee families in Syria and Jordan
- 8:00 pm Dr Kevin Logan is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a fellowship in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. His presentation will focus on Diet and the Global Ecology
