February 26 — “Ethical Perspectives in Medicine, Health and Science”

What does the Secretary General of the World Medical Association worry about? Global efforts in TB resistance, torture and medical professionals, health and human rights, and the next revisions to the Declaration of Helsinki, for starters.

Otmar Kloiber, M.D. is Secretary General, World Medical Association in Geneva. The World Medical Association is an independent confederation of national medical associations from more than 80 countries and represents more than eight million physicians. Acting on behalf of patients and physicians, the WMA endeavours to achieve the highest possible standards of medical care, ethics, education and health-related human rights for all people.


Dr Kloiber is a pathophysiologist who was involved in research on neurotoxicology, first at the University of Minnesota in Duluth, USA and then on pathophysiological studies at the Max-Planck Institute for Neurological Research in Cologne, Germany.
