March 29 — First Indiana Bread for the World Conference
Millions of U.S. children go hungry every year, and millions more die every year from hunger or from preventable and treatable disease. This conference will bring together national and local anti-hunger leaders along with concerned individuals from across Indiana to learn about hunger and how to use our voices to end hunger in our lifetimes.
When: Sat. March 29, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: North United Methodist Church, 3808 N. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN.
The Indiana chapters of Bread for the World are sponsoring their first-ever statewide conference, convened under the theme “Advocacy to End Hunger in Our Time”.
The keynote address will be given by Rev. Arthur Simon, Founder and President Emeritus, Bread for the World, and author of the books How Much Is Enough and Grace at the Table. There will be a plenary session on Hoosiers doing important anti-poverty work in Africa, plus multiple workshops led by experienced anti-hunger leaders. A session on advocating to Congress will feature staff members from the offices of Senator Evan Bayh and Rep. Dan Burton, and a media advocacy workshop will include discussion by panelists Indianapolis Star editor Dennis Ryerson and NUVO Newsweekly news editor Laura McPhee.
