January 24 — Documentary filmmaker Alison Wotherspoon
Alison Wotherspoon is a documentary film maker and head of production at Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia. Her work on anti-bullying is considered a model of how film and video can change damaging behavior by kids.

Alison Wotherspoon graduated from the University of NSW with a BA DIP ED Hons, in drama and film. After travelling throughout England and Europe, she began her career in television and film as an Assistant Editor at the BBC in Birmingham UK. On her return to Australia she worked as a Production Manager and Associate Producer at Film Australia, the ABC, and SBS. In 1991 Alison gained a place in the Producing Extension course at the Australian Television and Radio School and produced a number of independent films and videos. In 1997 Alison relocated from Sydney to become Head of Screen Production in the Screen studies department of Flinders University. Alison still directs and produces and maintains strong links with the film and television industry through out Australia. She is currently a member of the Government Film Fund Committee of the South Australian Film Corporation (SAFC), a member of the South Australian Government’s Tertiary Multimedia Training working group, a member of ASDA (Australian Screen Directors Association) and a corresponding member of CILECT (Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision).
