Brenda Graves-Croom is a graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Sociology. Mrs. Graves-Croom spent several years in the field of Social Services, working in various community programs. During this time, she also privately consulted with organizations and businesses, conducted research at the university level and independently wrote for papers and journals. She also spent time in the field of marketing and public relations. In 2001, Mrs. Graves-Croom began her own company in Indianapolis, Indiana, called L.A.C.A., Latino Advocacy in Community Affairs. Mrs. Graves-Croom is the President of L.A.C.A., managing client services in language and communication endeavors, especially as they relate to the Latino communities.
Shariq Siddiqui, Attorney at law - Civil and criminal defense. Shariq has a BA from the University of Indianapolis, an MA from Indiana University and JD from Indiana University School of Law. Shariq Siddiqui graduated from Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis in May 2005 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Mr. Siddiqui received his bachelors in history from the University of Indianapolis and his masters in philanthropic studies from Indiana University. Mr. Siddiqui has worked at the Islamic Society of North America, Indiana Civil Rights Commission, Marion County Prosecutor’s Office and the HSBC Banking Corporation (formerly known as Midlank Bank PLC). Mr. Siddiqui has clerked with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security. During law school, Mr. Siddiqui, took part in the Civil Practice clinic representing clients in family law, social security and Medicaid cases. Mr. Siddiqui was a Program on Law and State Government Fellow presenting a paper on ethics in state and local government. Mr. Siddiqui is actively involved with his local community, serving on the boards of the University of Indianapolis Alumni Association, ObatHelpers and the Muslim Alliance of Indiana. He also served on the board of the Jefferson Institute. Mr. Siddiqui is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Indiana State Bar Association

Philip J. Ripani, Attorney at law, Phil Ripani is a partner in the Labor and Employment Group. Mr. Ripani represents employers in labor and employment matters regarding employee benefits, immigration, employment discrimination, employee misconduct, collective bargaining and contract disputes, and other general employment issues. He helps company management with additional labor issues, including union prevention, hiring, discipline and retention of employees, wage and hour, and plant closing issues. He also aids businesses with the immigration issues surrounding transferring employees internationally and obtaining visa status for foreign employees. He has helped companies, foreign workers and their families to obtain or extend appropriate temporary and immigrant status visas, including H-visas, student visas and permanent residence visa status. Mr. Ripani has been a practicing attorney since 1976. He is licensed to practice law in Colorado and Indiana.
Know before you go … An issue sure to be of concern to the humane HR specialists of the Diversity Roundtable of Central Indiana will be recent discussion of draconian sanctions on employers of undocumented workers in Indiana.
