The most segregated moment in America is Sunday mornings. Is it a problem that most whites choose to worship with other whites, most blacks with other blacks? George Yancey thinks it is, and wants to help everyone deal with it.

Sociologist and racial reconciliation leader George Yancey will speak to an audience of students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Pastor Michael Jones of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church and Dr. Kent Millard of Celebration of Hope will respond to Yancey’s address. George Yancey is associate professor of sociology at the University of North Texas, specializing in race/ethnicity and biracial families. He is the coauthor of United by Faith: The Multiracial Congregation As an Answer to the Problem of Race (2004), coeditor of Just Don’t Marry One: Interracial Dating, Marriage, and Parenting (2003) and the author of Beyond Black and White: Reflections on Racial Reconciliation (1996). His most recent book, One Body, One Spirit: Principles of Successful Multiracial Churches, is based on data from a Lilly Endowment study of multiracial churches across America. He is the founder of Reconciliation Consulting, helping churches and ministries develop and sustain a multiracial emphasis.
