February 11 — Giving Patients a Voice through Photography in Health Sciences Research

What happens when patients with various conditions (pregnancy, breast cancer, Huntington’s Disease, AIDS) are asked to express their feelings and identities through talking or through reacting to photographs?


When: Monday February 11, noon to 1:00 PM


Where: IUPUI, Lilly Medical Sciences Library Room IB 301, 975 West Walnut Street Indianapolis


The IU School of Liberal Arts and Medical Humanities present the Health Studies Seminars 2007-2008: Giving Patients a Voice through Photography in Health Sciences Research, a talk by Lynn Pike, Professor of Sociology.


Lynn Blinn Pike is Professor of Sociology at IUPUI. Her specialties include adolescent health issues, visual sociology, and research methods. She teaches Sociology R327 on death and dying. With funding from federal, state and corporate sources, she has studied the prevention of high risk sexual behaviors among adolescents. She is the author of several publications and book chapters on mentoring as a strategy to improve the health of high risk youth.
