November 19 — Philanthropy among Faith Based Institutions: How do they give back into the community?

Faith-based institutions are some of the wealthiest institutions around. In many religious institutions, philanthropy tends to be more noticeable through its members giving financially to their place of worship and their institutions offer various ministries back to its membership. But how philanthropic are they? How do the different religious institutions measure up to each other in regards to how much and what they give back into the community? Do they give beyond the walls of the worship facility and how? Controversial? Possibly.

Where: The Earth House Coffee & Books Cafe @Lockerbie United Methodist Church 237 N. East St. Indianapolis, IN 46204 317.637.2716 (SE corner of East and New York Streets)

This conversation is not to create animosity among the different religions, but to get an idea of how funds recycle back into the community.
