October 23 —Special presentation of the film version of “Renewing American Culture: The Pursuit of Happiness”

Even if it wasn’t somehow connected to a lavishly funded new think tank, a special screening of the film version of “Renewing American Culture: The Pursuit of Happiness” would be worth attending the Heartland Festival.

When: Tuesday October 23, 7:00 PM
Where: Indiana History Center

Heartland, in collaboration with WFYI, hosts a special screening of “Renewing American Culture: The Pursuit of Happiness.” Following the film, the authors of the book — Scott Massey and Ted Malloch — will discuss what inspired them to do the project. In addition, prominent civic and business leaders from the community will discuss how the messages from the film relate to Indianapolis. Say the Heartland folks:

America is at a crossroad. Confronted with new global conflicts and shifting political and economic fortunes, many in the United States are questioning if American values are still relevant in today’s globalized, high-tech world. But there are others who are leading a transformation in American culture. They are pioneers who are generating a sense of community, as well as a resurgence of American virtues.

Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson will introduce the film, and Gerry Dick, of Inside Indiana Buisness, moderates the community discussion following the presentation. Panelists include:
John Mutz, Past Lt. Governor of Indiana
Jo Ann Gora, President, Ball State University
Ed Wheeler, President of Christian Theological Seminary

Massey and Malloch are setting up a new think tank, the Carmel Institute. Thinktankers in Central Indiana are watching with great interest.
