Nicolas van de Walle (PhD. Princeton University, 1990) is the John S. Knight Professor of International Studies, Professor of Government and Director of the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies. His primary field is comparative politics. His teaching and research focuses on the political economy of development, with a special focus on Africa; on democratization, and on the politics of economic reform. His most recent book is African Economies and the Politics of Permanent Crisis, 1979-1999

IUPUI Prof. Scott Pegg has arranged with all four of the authors of the principal African political science books used in his African Politics seminar course to join the students this semester as guest speakers on live video connections from their respective campuses. Anyone who would like to hear the guest speakers and/or see how the polycom technology actually works in practice is welcome to attend.
