Evening Lecture by Richard Carwardine, University of Oxford, St. Catherine’s College. Dr. Carwardine will explore “Abraham Lincoln and the Fourth Estate: The White House and the Press during the American Civil War”
This is part of the 22nd Lincoln Colloquium running September 28-29, 2007. The Annual Lincoln Colloquium is a national conference at which Lincoln scholars from throughout the nation and abroad present new historical insights concerning Abraham Lincoln. The Colloquium is envisioned as part of a “Great Conversation” regarding Abraham Lincoln and his place in history. Founded in 1986, and first sponsored by Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the audience for the Lincoln Colloquium has been essentially regional, with a modest national component. The attendees are a lively mix of amateurs and professionals, Lincoln buffs and academics, collectors and the curious, and this has been regarded as one of its strengths.
