September 18 — Break fast with the final “trialogue” about Muslims and Ibrāhīm
Begin the discussion with the Muslim perspective on the Patriarch.
When: Tuesday September 18 6:30-8:30 PM
Where: Nur Allah Mosque 2040 East 46th Street, Indianapolis, IN
Abraham is considered the “exalted father” of three of the world’s prominent religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. According to Christians Abraham foretold the coming of Jesus, he is a prophet in Islam and ancestor of Mohammed through his son Ismail, and his son Jacob is recognized as the “Father of Israel” in Judaism. What do we know about Abraham? Does his legacy provide a common thread for mutual respect, understanding, and peaceful coexistence among three faiths that share a long history? The Abraham Trialogue series offers a unique opportunity to learn more about this seminal character of three faith traditions. These, free and open to the public, discussions also provide an opportunity to visit and tour a local Mosque, Synagogue and Church, and learn more about the diversity within our faith community.
The concept for this public discussion series arose from the “House of Abraham” project of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis. Learn more about the “House of Abraham” by attending the public discussions or visit www.indyhabitat.org
The Abraham Trialogue Series is free and open to the public. Each conversation about the life of Abraham will be lead by a resident expert from the host congregation and include:
• A Tour of the House of Worship
• Information about the “House of Abraham”
• Question and Answer Period
• Refreshments
The month of Ramadan begins tomorrow and observant Muslims will fast each day from sunrise till sunset. Imam Saahir wanted to invite everyone to voluntarily join in fasting and break the fast with a delightful meal at Nur Allah on Tuesday evening Sept 18 at approximately 7:45 pm. Everyone is welcomed to dinner whether or not you are able to fast.
The Abraham Trialogue series is sponsored by:
- 2nd Presbyterian Church
- Bridging the Gap
- Congregation Beth-El Zedeck
- Nur-Allah Mosque
- Habitat for Humanity’s “House of Abraham”
- The International Interfaith Initiative

If this sounds like an important event, be sure to check out … Several interfaith activities are lined up during Spirit & Place in November, two of which seem particularly relevant to the Abrahamic trialogue, both on November 7 (time conflicts are part of packing so much S&P goodness into just a few days): Three Faiths: One Voice (influence of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic songs on each other); and Can Tzedakah, Tithing, and Zakat Save the World?
