September 5 — Discuss with the ACLU whether elections in Marion county can — or should — be saved
The last election in Marion County was a debacle of failed-state proportions. Well, maybe it was not that bad … but it was definitely bad enough to raise the question how poorly managed an election can be before democracy itself loses meaning.
When: Wednesday September 5 noon
Where: Indiana History Center (click here for directions)
The ACLU lunchtime panel discussion series resumes at the Indiana History Center from noon until 12:50 p.m. and continues on the first Wednesday of each month through the new year.
The Sept. 3 discussion, “Can Marion County’s Election System Be Saved,” will be moderated by Indianapolis Star columnist Matthew Tully and feature panelists Jackie Nytes, city-county councilor, Bill Blomquist, IUPUI professor of political science, and Ellen Saul, volunteer recruitment manager for Maribeth Smith & Associates. For more information, go to www.aclu-in.org.
