From the Sagamore Institute invitation:
Women’s health topics are commonplace in our daily news. We hear reports about the latest clinical research on breast cancer conducted by hospitals and universities. Cancer specialists offer their ideas about new screening tools, prevention strategies, and treatments. Discussions about the latest in breast surgery and reconstruction options are also common. As health care costs continue to grow, more women are facing major decisions about their medical care. How can we address these issues and facilitate the preservation of wellness and the prevention of breast cancer in women? What are some of the important issues confronting breast cancer research? What are the issues and challenges that women must face regarding insurance coverage of surgery and reconstruction? What can be done to shape policies that lead to more practical and effective healthcare? Through the presentations by our speakers, this discussion will examine the latest news on breast cancer research, public education about the disease, and how policy might be employed to improve the health of women in contemporary society.
