From the Butler blurb:
These summits, held concurrently in five Indiana communities, offer intensive educational opportunities for people to learn about the local impacts of climate change and to hone skills for effective action. The focus is on the current and long-range impacts of climate change in Indiana.
The Indianapolis summit features keynote presentations regarding the effects of climate change on each of the following aspects of Hoosier life: ecosystems (John Shuey, Nature Conservancy), public health (Indra Frank, M.D.), economy (Kenneth Richards, Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs), faith communities (Boniface Hardin, founder and president emeritus, Martin University), and governance (Mayor James Brainard, city of Carmel).
In the afternoon, participants will attend one of three training workshops, each with a different focus for action: “Cool Cities/Counties,” “Indiana Public Policy” or “Electricity Without Coal or Nuclear Power: Advocating a Transition Plan for America.”
Walk-ins are welcome, but only those who pre-register will be guaranteed a lunch and their choice of afternoon workshop.
