The Hunger Banquet is hosted each year by the Global Health Student Interest Group of Indiana University School of Medicine. It is a fundraiser and advocacy event that was developed to draw attention to the growing problem of hunger worldwide and the complexity of foreign aid campaigns. Come enjoy food representative of what citizens in less developed countries eat every day, multi-cultural dance performances, and keynote speaker Kevin Watkins, Co-chair of the Elanco Hunger Team and Hunger Board.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri Kevin has a BS and MS from the University of Missouri and a PhD in Animal Science with a minor in Human Nutrition from Louisiana State University. In 1989 Kevin joined Lilly Research Laboratories and has held leadership roles in Biology Research, Technology Acquisitions, Technical Consulting, and Regulatory Affairs at Elanco (Lilly’s Animal Health division). Kevin has authored or co-authored more than 90 scientific and popular press articles related to his primary research interests–animal health and nutrition, and global food security. Kevin is currently Advisor, Elanco Knowledge Solutions and member of the Elanco Hunger Team and Hunger Board. He lives in Indianapolis with his wife and daughter and spends time bike riding, rehabbing an historic home, gardening, and volunteering with various local and international service organizations.
IUPUI Global Health Student Interest Group (GHSIG) was founded by medical students at the Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI ) and aims to facilitate opportunities for global health service, encourage study abroad in medicine, and increase awareness of global health care needs. The organization currently includes undergraduate, graduate, and medical students from a variety of backgrounds, including biology, pre-med, philanthropy, social work, health law, nursing, public health, and many others.
