The ICWA announces its spring 2012 Great Decisions series
One of the best way to learn about foreign relations is the Great Decisions series. Developed by the Foreign Policy Association, it is the oldest and largest grassroots educational program on world affairs of its kind in the country with 880 cities offering programs which include 350,000 participants. Each year, a knowledgeable panel selects eight topics. In-depth articles on each subject are written by experts and compiled into the 100 page softbound Great Decisions Briefing Book. It’s a pretty good book: the articles are well-written, and contain as much substance as a very good article a Poli Sci professor would assign for an upper division undergradyate class in international relations.
The Indiana Council on World Affairs participates in Great Decisions by scheduling a local program and by promoting the Great Decisions series throughout the state. The Tuesday night ICWA local Great Decisions program focuses on the 8 topics in the Great Decisions Briefing Book with issues explored through discussions led by informed speakers. As always they have recruited an excellent roster of experts: some figures who’ll be familiar to anyone who has attended past GD programs, some new experts with sterling credentials, and a couple of newcomers.
Who’s coming up in spring for the ICWA? And how can you continue learning and conversing more? Read on …
