January 31: “Informative Websites on Businesses and Markets in the Changing Arab World”

With an infinite amount of information in our computers, why are we so ignorant of crucial and fascinating places such as the Middle East? IU’s Center for the Study of the Middle East (CSME) wants to help rectify this situation when it teams up with the World Trade Club of Indiana to bring in journalism doctoral student Mohammed al-Azdee to tell how to get smarter.

January 31: Middle East realignment The popular revolts and upheaval of the Arab Spring have radically changed the face of the Middle East. What lies ahead for the Middle East’s transition to democracy? What are the prospects for the governments that have held out in this new order? With many longtime U.S. allies ousted, how will the U.S. recalibrate its relations with the new regimes?

February 16: “Egypt and the Middle East, One Year After Mubarak” A panel discussion organized by Marian University’s Richard G. Lugar Franciscan Center for Global Studies and the International Interfaith Initiative.
