October 20: The future of US-Pakistan relations: From a boots-on-the-ground perspective
Shehzad H. Qazi is a Research Associate at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding (ISPU). He’s a former Mary F. Crisler scholar (2008-2010) at the Indiana University School of Liberal Arts and a former DSRP Scholar (2007-2010) at the Center for Research and Learning. Zahid Jamil is a Senior Partner in the family law firm of M/s. Jamil & Jamil and has been practising in Pakistan since 1997 as a High Court Litigator and Legal & Policy Consultant. As Chairman of the Center for Strategic & Policy Analysis, Mr. Jamil has spoken at various forums in the US on policy matters related to US-Pakistan relations including democracy, governance, security and foreign policy.

Shehzad’s research includes insurgent movements and counterinsurgency, transnational Islamist militancy, water conflict, and U.S. foreign policy. He recently wrote a chapter on insurgent movements in Pakistan for The Routledge Companion to the Study of Insurgency and Counter insurgency (Routeledge: forthcoming) and has published academic papers in Small Wars & Insurgencies, Third World Quarterly and IPRI Journal, several policy reports, and numerous popular articles. Shehzad has appeared as a political commentator on Voice of America: Urdu and other media outlets and also lectured on U.S. foreign policy and Pakistan’s security situation.
Zahid Jamil is a Senior Partner in the family law firm of M/s. Jamil & Jamil and has been practising inPakistansince 1997 as a High Court Litigator and Legal & Policy Consultant. Amongst the various areas of law practised Mr. Jamil also has expertise and experience in criminal cases that range from Cybercrime, Anti-Money Laundering to Security related cases. He has conducted trainings of prosecutors and forensic experts inPakistanin conjunction with the Council of Europe Crime Division and the US Department of Justice.
